Explorers
Explorers is the last of the last of the four youth sections and is again open to both males and females, aged between 14 and 18.
There are two Explorer Units serving Weald District, with an additional young leaders unit. As an Explorer you belong to one of the two units but are free to attend either unit so as you can benefit from the widest possible range of activities.
As Explorers you are expected to organise your own units programme with assistance from the Leaders where required. This means that your programme can include almost anything, the sky really is the limit.
Explorers work towards a number of awards including the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme.

exploring five Scottish islands by bike.
We went up by train while the bikes and equipment went in a van that was then used as a support vehicle/kitchen for the week.
The tour, using bikes and ferries, started in Ayrshire, crossed Arran and the Kintyre peninsular, then moved on to Islay, Colonsay, Oronsay and Jura. The most remote visit was to Oronsay, only reachable for a couple of hours at low tide by biking across several miles of wet sand from Colonsay. Unfortunately the weather was not very good that day, and we had to bike back almost immediately to catch the tide.
