Cubs

cu-cs-posCub Scouts is for boys and girls aged between 8 and 10 1/2, and follows on from the Beaver section, although you do not need to have been a beaver to join Cubs.

Cubs enjoy a wide and varied programme from camping to visits to places of interest, not to mention the odd game of football or a trip to the local swimming pool.

Within the cub section, badges are awarded for being able to demonstrate a basic understanding of a subject and are designed to encourage cubs to try different activities.

Back to the Future - Detling

On the 3rd of October 12 of us from Hawkhurst Cub pack went to the Back to the Future event in Detling to mark the 95th anniversary of Cub scouting.

There were 90 activities for cubs to do and we, as a pack, had to try and complete as many as we could. There was a Cub Scout history museum, wheelchair racing, match the badges, making pack posters, build a go kart, drive a go kart, crazy golf, score a goal & loads of others. My favourite was build a go kart.

There was a road show and in part of this Bear Grylls (Chief Scout) visited us and arrived by helicopter.  He had a look around then they put him up on the road show stage and he told us a bit about what he does.

We had a really fun day and we think that we completed about 60 activities with our whole pack.

Thanks to Akela, the bus driver, Hathe & Chill for a lovely day out.

Around 50 cubs made it to Lordship Wood for Weald's District Cub campfire, we were lucky with the weather it stayed dry.
The cubs sang a variation of different campfire songs and we did a couple of stits. (The fortune teller and the funnel and tennis ball.
I acquired some 'mystic fire'. You throw the sachets on the fire and it turns the flames all different colours for approx 30 minutes, the Cubs really enjoyed this while they had their hot chocolate and biscuits.
